After 20 years as President and        CEO of County First Bank, Earl R. Gieseman, III is retiring.

Mr. Gieseman's career began six decades ago in 1967 as a Bank Examiner for the Comptroller of the Currency.  During most of the 1970's and 1980's, he held management positions with two Washington-area banks before being hired as President and CEO of County First Bank in 1993.  At that time, County First Bank had $30 million in assets, one location, and 15 employees.  Now the bank boasts $210 million in assets, 7 bank locations, and 58 employees.

Mr. Gieseman says, "I'm proud of what we've accomplished.  We have an outstanding team of bankers that understand the importance of good service, sound banking principles, and keeping things simple.  We have survived significant changes in the rules governing the banking industry, a tornado that destroyed our main office, and the worst and longest-running economic crisis since the Great Depression.  We have a strong foundation that I feel will enable us to grow and prosper for many years to come.  I also look forward to remaining active with the bank as a board member and will assist as best I can whenever possible".

Assuming the role of President and CEO of County First Bank as of October 7, 2013, is Douglas T. Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell has 26 years of banking experience and most recently served as CEO of Summit Community Bank, a $1.4 billion bank headquartered in Moorefield, West Virginia.  Prior to Summit, Mr. Mitchell held management positions at SunTrust Bank, Chevy Chase Bank, M&T Bank, and Chase Manhattan Bank.  He holds a BS degree from the State University of New York and an MBA from the University of Rochester.

Mr. Mitchell says, "Earl has an outstanding team of people at County First Bank, and has lead a very successful organization over the past 20 years.  As a company we will continue to focus on the things that matter most to our clients and shareholders.  That means working hard to provide excellent service, innovative products, and competitive returns.  Our team looks forward to helping our clients as a friend and trusted advisor, but more important, we take pride in our commitment to the success of our customers, their families, businesses and the communities we serve".
